Per Kailani @ her blog, An Island Life“In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.”

So all you have to do is answer my question, head on over to Kailani’s & answer her question plus link up your own question that you’ve put on your blog.  Then head out to visit everybody else & enjoy the fun!

It’s been more than a little while so I’ll start out nice & easy.  My sister & I were talking recently about things (creepy crawly critters) that freak us out.  I’ve never been very fond of spiders & bugs but since we moved to Arizona I’ve found tons of new reasons to wonder why God created bugs.  I understand that some of them are beautiful & helpful or just plain fun but why things like scorpions, centipedes, sun spiders, wolf spiders, black widows & the list goes on.

baby scorpion I killed on the floor of my garage nearly 2 yrs ago

baby snake we though was a rattler but turned out not to be although we’d already killed it when we found out it wasn’t

What creepy crawly critters freak you out or don’t those kinds of things bug you?

Okay, deep breathes…in, out, in, out… the bugs really aren’t that bad.

Welcome, welcome!  According to Kailani @ An Island Life, Friday is the day in Hawaii to slow down & take things easy in preparation for the weekend.  Come along & play this fun little meme w/ me.  Just post a question on your blog, link up to Kailani’s blog & then head around answering everybody’s questions.  Easy, eh?

Summer’s half over & I’m really excited for one thing.  Saturday my son is coming home from boy scout camp.  Now this isn’t his first time & I’m not certain why I’ve missed him so much but this time around has been really hard having him gone.

So because I’m getting so excited (even planning on making his favorite dish, pork tacos w/ pineapple salsa) I’m wondering what’s got you excited this summer.

Are you visiting someone you haven’t seen in awhile?

Planning a really cool vacation?

Buying a house?

Having a baby?

Graduating from college?

Just hanging out?

Don’t forget to link up @ Kailani’s & Aloha!

In the comments lots of you mentioned crocs flips or slides or even ballet types.  Just for the record, two of my flips, a pair of black & a blue pair are crocs!  Where would we be w/o them?  lol!

ALOHA!  It’s Friday, It’s Friday!  Time to chill out on our blogs & have fun.  According to Kailani @ An Island Life, Friday’s are the day to get ready for the weekend.  So answer a few questions, ask a new question on your blog & roll on!

Hubby complained the other day about how many pairs of flip flops I own.  I thought he was nuts & vigorously defended my habit myself by telling him I only have a few pair.  Then I counted.  I own 6 pair of black flip flops, 1 red, 1 turquoise (brand new & so cute!), 1 tan & 2 navy blue.  That makes a total of 11 pairs of flip flops.

So.  How about you?

Do you flip flop too, or is there a different type of footwear that floats your fancy?

Maybe you prefer purses or wallets/ties whatever made out of duct tape?

Hmmm?  Which is it?

Anyway, answer mine & I’ll be along shortly to answer yours!  Aloha, everybody & have a safe 4th of July!!!

Hard to believe but I’ve made it through to another Friday!  Even have my homework turned in early.  So, it’s been awhile but Aloha Friday is all about taking it easy.  I really, really, really need easy.  Between both of my kid’s birthdays in one week, an essay due, my parent’s coming to visit, a celebration for the 100th anniversary of my kid’s school, the first birthday party we’ve hosted in a few years plus a Barbie cake similar to this one –

Only decorated in fondant which is a totally different type of frosting/icing.

So, I’ve been busy.  But that’s actually besides the point.  My question, since I’m in the midst of birthday central here, is what is your favorite present from your childhood?

Was it a hoola hoop?

How about a firetruck?

Did you get to go see your favorite rock star/band for your birthday?

For me, my favorite present changes yearly depending upon what I can remember!  lol, but I do know that I loved all of my birthdays especially the ones after I became a mom.

So?  What was it?  Can’t wait to come & visit y’all!  Aloha!!!

I was ready this week.  All ready to play Aloha Friday but once again I’ve been sidelined.  Guess I’ll keep it till next week.  The good news though is that I’ve finished my essay #4 draft.  Yahoo!  This means that my cause & effect essay (I wrote about my son’s mood changes now that hormones have come into play) is almost done.  The bad news is that I start a new class on Thurs.  Wait.  Maybe that is good.  I don’t know.

Hubby & I have become parento locus for two kids until Sunday morning.  So far it’s been good although having to get a girl pre-teen up an hour early for hair care etc… hasn’t be fun.  I LIKE my sleep, gosh darn it!  All for a good cause & honestly, other than the early morning, the girls have have great.  They are polite & considerate & are just all around nice.  I asked the oldest if she was excited to come home Sunday & she told me no because she really liked our trampoline.  Score one for the great outdoors.

I was able to go today w/ the Prince & the older girl on a tour of a local landmark today.  It’s a living cave.  This means that everything is still forming.  It was pretty neat because they don’t really use lights.  There is just enough lighting in there to see the path, it’s super humid (70F plus 90% humidity) & if you touch anything you need to let the park rangers/tour guides know so that the place can be marked & then that night it can gently be scrubbed by hand to reduce the contaminants – hair, lint, oils from our bodies & clothing.  We were actually shown the neat things in the cave by flashlight.  I’ve never had a tour quite like this one & I’ve been to Timpanogos in Ut & Laurey Caverns in Va.

Well, the girls mom is here to visit (she works nights & usually grandma & grandpa have them but they’re taking a well deserved break) & the pizza is ready.  Time to go eat!

Has anybody else heard of Matt Logelin?  He’s the blogger whose wife died right after giving birth to their adorable baby girl, Madeline.  It was incredible sad & yet Matt had to go on for this beautiful little girl that he & Liz, his wife, had wanted.  After raising Maddy alone except for family, friends & bloggy land Matt has found love again.  To me this is one of the most amazingly beautiful stories.  He’s mourned Liz so hard & for so long.  All I can say is good for you, Matt!  No one should have to be alone.  I hope that Maddy, you & Brooke are very happy!!!

Then there is Patrice over @ Not a girl, not a woman who just found out that her little sister’s cancerous tumor is gone.  Anna still has to finish her chemo & radiation treatments but she’s won a major battle here.  This is a miracle for a teenager.  A girl still in high school.  Just writing this has me in tears of joy for the miracle that has been granted to this amazing young woman & her family.  If you get a chance give Patrice a high five for her sister.  I know she’d love that!

I’m wondering when you go to college online if you should actually be able to contact your instructor & get a response from him.  Seriously.  I think he has been gone for a couple of weeks because all of a sudden there was a flurry of graded material plus when I asked him a question via email I didn’t get a response.  So…. What do I do?  Oh & I did get an “A” on my first paper & I anticipate another one on this one.  The thing is that I just threw it together.  I didn’t actually sit down & outline it although I did do some research on two things for the paper.  Trust me when I say that it didn’t take long.  I think the paper took me all of 10 minutes to write & the reviews I’ve gotten so far from this online review & also my peers incline me to think it’s okay.  I should be grateful but I don’t feel like I’m learning anything in this class.  I know, quit whining.  It’s obnoxious & I should be happy that I’m getting good grades but….

It’s Sunday & I’ve turned in my latest assignment a day early.  I’m thinking this means I should really try to blog more this week & I’m going to try to hit Aloha Friday this time.  I can do it, I can do it, I can do it!

(I’ve got to learn to proofread better!  Seriously!!)

I’m still around but I’ve been making this english class alot harder than I should.  I’ve been letting myself become intimidated by the 20 yr gap in school & really, I shouldn’t have.  I can do this!  But, I’ll still be absent a bit longer cause trying to make my brain come up w/ my next essay is not fun.  I have too many ideas & not enough to go on to actually make it seem like a coherent recollection.  *shrug*  I’ll be back, I promise & I’m working towards being done by Thursday night (not due until Friday pm) so that I can play Aloha Friday!

I did want to leave y’all w/ something that my aunt sent me.  This just really hit home w/ me.

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.

A Death Certificate shows that we died.
Pictures show that we lived!
Have a seat . . . Relax . . .. And read this slowly…
I Believe….
That just because two people argue, that
doesn’t mean they don’t love each other.
And just because they don’t argue, that
doesn’t mean they do love each other.
I Believe…
That sometimes when I’m angry
I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe…
That we don’t have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.
I Believe…
That no matter how good a friend is,
they’re going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.
I Believe…
That true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.
I Believe…
That you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.
I Believe…
That it’s taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.
I Believe…
That you should always leave loved ones
with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.
I Believe…
That you can keep going long after you think you can’t.
I Believe…
That we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.
I Believe…
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I Believe….
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done,
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I Believe….
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe….
That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing,
and have the best time.
I Believe…
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you,
when you’re down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe…
That maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you’ve had,
and what you’ve learned from them…
and less to do with how many
birthdays you’ve celebrated.
I Believe…
That it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I Believe…
That no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn’t stop for your grief.
I Believe…
That our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
but we are responsible for who we become.
I Believe…
That you shouldn’t be so eager to find
out a secret.
It could change your life forever.
I Believe…..
Two people can look at the exact same
thing and see something totally different.
I Believe…
That your life can be changed in a matter of
hours by people who don’t even know you.
I Believe…
That even when you think you have no more to give,
if a friend cries out to you..
you will find the strength to help.
I Believe…
That credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe…
That the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon..
I Believe….
That you should send this to all of the people that you believe in.
I just did.
I believe..
The happiest of people don’t necessarily
have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything.
Thank you God for all the wonderful people
who help us throughout the journey of life…
